Markerboard Construction
Q: How are your markerboards constructed?
A: Our markerboards are manufactured with a high quality dry-erase surface on a 1/8" thick composite wood board.
Q: Do they have a frame around them?
A: No. They do not need a frame for durability. Without a frame they can stack and store easily.
Q: What about the lines or patterns on the boards?
A: The lines our markerboards are permanently "etched" onto the dry-erase surface using a type of screen printing process.
Q: What steps do you take to ensure safety?
A: All our boards have rounded corners and smooth edges, so kids won't hurt themselves or tear clothing. This feature also improves their durability if they are dropped.
Q: Will they hold up if they get wet?
A: We've heard of other markerboards (costing more) that are simply vinyl stretched over cardboard. And if they got a little wet, they would disintegrate. Our boards will hold up just fine under spills and other messes. (Although, we don't know of anything that will survive a soaking.)
Q: How long will the boards last?
A: Our markerboards can last for years. The combination of the high-quality surface with our guarantees protects your investment.

Scratches are a markerboard's worst enemy. If you keep sharp object away from the boards and store them away carefully when your not using them, then you'll enjoy them for years to come.

Q: Are your boards double-sided (i.e., lined on one side and blank on the other)?
A: No. And here's why (based upon feedback from teachers who have actually used double-sided boards in their classrooms):

Students will use one side of the board more often than the other. The side that's usually down gets so scratched up that it becomes unusable. The extra money spent for a double-sided board is wasted.

Even if your students were careful and only used the board on a soft or non-abrasive surface, then each time they flipped the board over, everything they had done on the "down" side would be erased.

Furthermore, since most of our lined boards have some blank space on them (usually one-third to one-half of the board is blank), there is really no need for a blank side.
